The
Twin Cities Scottish Club (TCSC) was founded in 1969. A small group of
native-born Scots met that year to create a nonprofit (501C3)
organization to promote Scottish culture, tradition, and history. Since
then, the Club has sponsored many events in the Twin Cities exposing
its members, and the community to various components of Scottish
culture, literature, and traditions through dance, piping, drumming,
poetry, song, and ethnic food. The Twin Cities Scottish Club prides
itself as being a "home away from home" for Scottish and other Celtic immigrants alike.
The TCSC actively participates in community events, such as the
Minnesota Scottish Fair and Highland Games, A Scottish Ramble,
Minnesota Tartan Day, A Celtic Solstice, and community and school
cultural activities in Minnesota. We also financially gift other local
organizations, such as Minnesota Scottish Celtic Dance Association,
Macalester College Pipe Band, Minnesota Police Pipe Band, The Scottish
American Center, Minnesota Scottish Fair and Highland Games, and Hart
School of Highland Dance, to name a few.
The Twin Cities Scottish Club is proud to have the longest running Robert Burns Night celebration (since 1970) in the
Twin Cities. This event celebrates the 1759 birth of Scotland's own
poet laureate, Robert Burns, and is attended by both TCSC members and
the general public alike.
The Twin Cities Scottish Club's membership spans four generations, and our events
are designed around all age groups. Current membership consists
of 21 percent native-born Scots and other foreign countries, and
the rest comprises of American descendants of the Celts, and other
foreign countries throughout the world, who enjoy Scottish culture.
